At the time of publication Myers counted 57 consecutive deer hunts in his recreational career. He also declares the Spokane River to have been the finest fly fishing stream in the State of Washington, and that it remained valid after two WWI-era dams were constructed on the river, but that the dumping of untreated sewage in the river, which continued at the time of writing (1948) created an unmitigated disaster.
