Washington D. C. / Los Angeles: Millroy & Beverstock / Robert E. Westwater, 1903/1911. Folded map. 41-1/2 x 27 inches folded to 7 x 8. Combination map, diagram and panoramic illustration printed in black, blue and red one side. Center fold partially split and others weakened, light stains and toning. Good+. Item #9386

Westwater's 1911 update and revision of the 1903 Millroy & Beverstock print. The updated profile diagram shows the depth and "Progress of Excavations to May 1911" distinguishing French and American work, and the map beneath it is new, showing dimensions and the three geographic divisions created by George Washington Goethals. Also added is the prominent bald eagle emblem emphasizing US ownership and engineering. Completion of the canal is shown expected in 1913.

This revision is scarce on the market and rare in institutions: OCLC locates just one holding. Preserved in a clear archival pouch with acid free backing.
