An early Grabhorn Press publication; David Magee, in his "Catalogue of Some Five Hundred Examples of the Printing of Edwin & Robert Grabhorn lists this as item 113. To quote from his citation for the first edition, ""written in collaboration with Bertha Pope, this is an affectionate ribbing of Alfred M. Bender, one of San Francisco's most beloved philanthropists." Caroline Esberg was a San Francisco arts patron and the namesake for a medium pink large-flowered climber rose introduced in 1926.
