Loosely translated, The Work of the Communist Parties of France and Germany and the Tasks of the Communists in the Trade Union Movement. In the 1920s-'30s Piatnitsky headed the International Department of the Communist International, and was thus a better known face of the international communist movement. His resistance during the Great Purge was an act of political and personal suicide. Stalin directed his arrest by the NKVD, and eventual execution.
