Jean d'Halluin founded Les Editions du Scorpion in 1946 at age 20 and made an immediate splash with the roman noir pulp classic I Spit On Your Graves, commissioned from Boris Vian at the Café de Flore in a challenge to equal Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer. Successes and direction were harder to find by the late 1950s and many titles were published à compte d'auteur. It closed in 1969.
