Bound in brown cloth with black decoration and gilt lettering stamped on front board. Light edge-wear and soiling to cloth, lower corners a tad bumped. A faint quarter-inch dampstain affects the bottom edge of the final ten leaves, and a another unobtrusive dampstain to the lower left of the frontispiece portrait (please see last two photos). Alexander arrived in Hawaii in 1832. Per Forbes, "in the main, the text tells of Alexander's life at Waioli, Kauai, and at Lahainaluna and Wailuku on Maui. Activity precipitating his arrival in Hawaii is documented, including the voyage on the Averick and the unsuccessful effort to establish a mission in the Marquesas. Uncommon. FORBES: 3951.
