Company history of the firm that became Bloedel Donovan Lumber Mills. Contains a sketch of Peter Larson, the immigrant-entrepreneur who was involved in railroads, shipping and timber. He was also the rough-and-tumble financier who staked Bloedel. Bloedel and a partner gave him a pitch at his Seattle hotel suite, where he was recovering from the Strait of Juan de Fuca shipwreck of the S.S. Clallam. He directed Bloedel to remove a large amount of cash from his wallet, sitting on a bureau, and still soaked with saltwater.

This first edition published a year or two prior to the firm's merger with MacMillan, forming MacMillan-Bloedel, itself eventually acquired by Weyerhauser. A limited edition was published in the late 1960s by the Whatcom Museum in Bellingham. Dust jacket is now protected in a clear, archival (and removable) sleeve.
