Brant was a journalist, conservation writer and early member of the ECC who later wrote a ground-breaking biography of James Madison. In addition to the eloquent advocacy here, his surveying helped establish the boundaries of Olympic National Park, established later in 1938. Although OCLC locates 13 institutional copies, quite scarce on the open market: This is the first copy we've seen.
