Dark red cloth, titles stamped in black on the cover and spine: lower corner bumped, front board somewhat bowed, head edge dust soiled, light foxing and age toning to endpapers. In the two color Jarvis illustrated dust jacket with price 9/6 intact on the front flap: spine and fore edge faded, edges rubbed and small chips. Inscribed in blue ink on the front free endpaper "With the best wishes of John Crowther the alter ego of John Varnam - June 1951." Good+ / Good+. Item #6788
