First published in 1921. A Yank from Ohio and, later, New York, Albert Rhys Williams studied labor issues and covered the Russian Revolution for the New York Post. While he might not have started as a fellow traveler, he was influenced by the socialists-classmates he met at Cambridge University. He befriended Lenin at the storming of the Winter Palace; that friendship engendered his commitment to the communist cause. He lived in Russia for the balance of his life, returning to the US only thrice before he died in 1962. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
