City Engineer Albro Gardner drafted or at least supervised the production of this original street plat just two years after the Great Seattle Fire and the year before city co-founder Yesler's passing. Plats along Lewis Street (today's 23rd Avenue) are in H. L. Yesler's Addition from Yesler Ave. (today's E. Yesler) to Eaton St. (now E. Alder), Sander Boman Real Estate Co.'s First Addition to just short of Willow St. (now E. James) including the Crawford St. crescent (now E. Terrace), and the Walla Walla Addition comprising Edes St. (now Columbia) and Knight St. (now E. Cherry.) Includes numbered plats, surveyor's data, streets and sidewalks.

The chaotic practice of street naming by developers was reformed in 1895 under the next City Engineer, R. H. Thomson.
