Anna Louise Strong, the youngest female to earn a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, moved to Seattle in 1916 to engage in labor activism and assist her father, a Congregational minister known in Seattle as "the Red Reverend."

In 1921 she moved to Russia, working as a journalist and author in support of the Revolution. These are her immediate impressions. In the scarce dust jacket, which is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
