University of Washington Publications in Anthropology Volume 12. The introduction, by Melville Jacobs (Winning Oregon), reveals Tweddell expanding on the work by etymologist pioneers Franz Boas, Thelma Adamson and Ethel Aginsky in the 1930s. At the time Tweddell was teaching Chinese at the UW's Far Eastern Department; following his service in WWII, he embarked for work in Western China, and left this manuscript for Jacobs to prepare for publication.

This copy was owned by Claire E. Stevens, a linguist also associated with the University of Washington (A Characterization of Spanish Nouns and Adjectives). A scarce work in any condition. Now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve with an acid-free backing.
