Illustrated with engravings, tissue guards. Brown cloth, beveled edges, titles stamped in gilt and decorations in black on the cover and spine, dark brown topstain and endpapers. Volume I ink signature on preliminary leaf and bookseller tag "Raymer's Old Book Store Seattle" on front endpaper, all volumes with bookplate of Ben A. Maslan Seattle. Board edges rubbed, corners bumped, spine heads chipped, age toned tissue guards with transfer to adjacent leaves, a few sparse pencil annotations. Good+. Item #6519

This set belonged to Ben Maslan, once prominent in Seattle's legal community. His family lore involved an Irish interlude prior to arrival in Seattle; other than his legal prowess, he was known for his annual St. Patrick's Day distribution of green bagels at the King County Courthouse.
