Lucile Saunders McDonald was a feature writer and book reviewer at the Seattle Times from 1942 to 1966 after achieving multiple firsts including first female news editor in Oregon, first female reporter in South America, etc. Today she is perhaps best known her history books, a couple of which were devoted to historical structures in Seattle and Washington State. (Washington's Yesterdays comes to mind.)

Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
