The gripping story of Knatchbull the arch-criminal (or was he?) in his own words and with a substantial overview by Roderick, tracing his life from achieving commander in the British Navy (he was related to Sir Joseph Banks) to being transported to Australia, serving seven years on Norfolk Island. When he was hanged in 1844, some 10,000 spectators attended.
