First edition. Handsomely printed on Corsican paper. According to CLARK & BRUNET, the Hafens had done prior work with the Arthur H. Clark Company, but their relationship was "fully established with the 15-volume Far West and Rockies Series."

A work of enduring quality and scholarship, this volume mined significant primary source material to contextualize Long's diary as it documented the early exploration from West Point to Council Bluffs, and beyond. Production run of this volume was 1,289 copies. CLARK & BRUNET, 104: VI.
