First published 1946, this brief memoir by the New Zealand author was published posthumously. A Rhodes Scholar, a rugby injury led to a leg amputation; nevertheless, Guthrie served in WWII with distinction. The accomplished dust jacket illustration that graces this edition, by "EB," is a spare landscape-seascape done in a modernistic style of the era.
