Half red cloth, magenta patterned paper covered boards, titles stamped in gilt on the spine, laid paper, title and half title pages in red and black: head and tail edges sunned, gilt titles dulled, lower corners rubbed, edges and some leaves lightly foxed, some portrait leaves loose. In the three color illustrated dust jacket: spine ends and head edge chipped, spine darkened and edges chafed, edges rubbed. Good+ / Good. Item #6324 The dust jacket illustration has every hallmark of E. McKnight Kauffer, but the signature appears more as "Williams" than "Kauffer," unless it's a tortured "E. Kauffer." No reference of this design appears in E. McKnight Kauffer: A Designer and His Public (Mark Haworth-Booth). Dust jacket preserved in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
