No Sense in Form A Tragedy of Manners

London: Denis Archer, 1933. Beresford Egan (dust jacket). First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. 12mo. Pp. 287 followed by four pages of publishers advertising. Light green cloth, titles and rules stamped in black on the spine, device and border stamped in black on the cover: spine and edges sunned, top edge moderately foxed, leaves of inferior paper lightly age-toned. In the Egan illustrated dust jacket printed black on white with author portrait by Haydn Mackey on rear panel: head of spine and front panel with small chips; edges a tad worn; mellowed creases to lower corner. Please see photos. Good+ / Good+. Item #6322

Follow-up to the cartoonist/painter/actor/novelist's Pollen: A sculptor is faced with "the tyranny of convention masquerading as divinely-sanctioned morality" in the blurb. The superb, scarce dust jacket, presenting a fine melange of Beardsley-gone-art deco, is quintessential Egan. Dust jacket now preserved in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
