The inscription by Elovsky, dated 1941, "Hollywood, Calif.," is in an undetermined Slavic language. His play concerns the 1806 intersection of Russians and Spaniards in California, with Spanish Presidio Comandante Don Jose Dario Arguello and Count Nikolai Petrovich Rezanov being the principal characters, and the historic romance of Rezanov with Arguello's daughter, Concepcion, serving as the narrative. Dust jacket is now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
