Adapted to the screen twice (1927 and 1934), Deeping's best-known novel draws on his personal medical training, a practice he abandoned for literature after serving WWI in the Royal Army Medical Corps. This is an early reprint of the Knopf first edition, and offers one of three dust jackets commissioned by G&D. This is the Skrenda-illustrated dust jacket, printed in pleasantly garish colors, with the eponymous father and son enjoying leisure in tree shade. Although copyright page states 1926, this edition is likely 1930. Dust jacket is now protected in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
