A guide to factory management presented in the form of a novel, sponsored by the Cornell-Caterpillar program to improve factory efficiency. The protagonist, JOE (the publisher uses repeated capitalization in the foreword), is the everyman factory-floor supervisor. Follow his model and workers will be pleased as punch.

The line drawings by Francis Strobel are good, but it's the dust jacket that stands out: a social-realist depiction of a manly worker at lathe. Dust jacket is now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
