The first third of the book is composed of reports from the principal leaders of the expedition; the latter two-thirds is composed of photos of natives, of artifacts, of topographic views, achievements of the expedition, etc. Among the missions of the expedition was the building 80 miles of pack trail from Valdez to the Klutina River headwaters. With reports by Quartermaster's Agent Charles Brown; Dr. Leroy J. Townsend (report on scurvy); H. L Wilson, Jr.; Walter C. Babcock, Oscar Rohn; John H. Rice; et al. The map shows the route of the trail constructed by the expedition and topography of the surrounding region. Decker, in Soliday catalog, lauds the "vivid scenes at Valdez, the dreaded Scurvy, destitution among miners, the Valdez Glacier sufferings, Wilson Mining Co. sufferings, exploration of Quartz Creek and Tonsea Lake, the Wrangell Mt.
