Listed as item 31 in David Magee's Catalogue of Some Five Hundred Examples of the Printing of Edwin and Robert Grabhorn ("G.B. 58"). Please note: The circular figures seen on the front and rear boards are not stains, but part of the paper design, meant to represent enlarged watermarks.
Born in New York State to German-Jewish immigrants, Weil studied violin in Leipzig and Paris, served with the North in the Civil War, then settled in San Francisco where he taught violin and composition. Published two years after his death, this handsomely designed and printed collection includes his writing on music for the San Francisco Argonaut and lists his compositions.
