The titular "silver peril" is a winged helicopter that terrorized Bucharest, and is connected to the Apache gang who hang out at the As de Couer, a cafe in the blackest part of Montmartre. Scotland Yard is on their trail. The dust jacket illustration by RR is constrained by a limited palette, as with that illustrator's jacket for Sing Sing Nights (Dutton, 1928), yet he or she pulls off an effectively dramatic vignette. HUBIN, p. 359. Dust jacket is now protected in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
