First edition of Locke's novel of WWI, adapted by Lasky and Zukor into the 1924 silent film The Side Show of Life. That was long considered a lost film until a print was discovered in Moscow's Gosfilmofond. The charming dust jacket illustration by "PC" depicts a beleaguered clown taking stock of himself as reflected in a mirror. Dust jacket is now protected in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
