First separate edition, originally appearing in A Arte e a Natureza em Portugal, detailing the history of this important base of the House of Braganza, one of the most important lines of Portuguese nobility. The decline of Vicosa began in 1640, when John II, Duke of Braganza, became King John IV, thus transferring family power to Lisbon, to the neglect of the family's hometown. A worthy architectural history presented in a sumptuous binding.
