Poems of an overtly political nature, published when US was meddling in Southeast Asia and elsewhere. Contains "Dachau is Now Open for Visitors." Inscribed by the poet's brother, Jerry Berrigan, to J. Luther Sylvahn (1902-1977), publisher of the Progressive Herald, a Syracuse newspaper that provided a voice for the city's black community.

Jerry Berrigan taught English at Syracuse-area schools but, as with his Berrigan brothers, was known for a life of protesting US military action. His lengthy interaction with the law includes arrests for protesting the Vietnam war and subsequent conflicts, perhaps the most notable being a misdemeanor for pouring blood on the floor of the Pentagon in 1979. He's quoted in his New York Times obit as regretting his rap sheet wasn't longer.
