Kin-Da-Shon's Wife An Alaskan Story

New York Chicago: Fleming H. Revell Company, (1892). Second Edition. Hardcover. 8vo. Pp. 281. Frontis. photo of Juneau, with tissue guard. Illustrated throughout with good etchings of the Chilkat Peninsula. Bound in dark blue decorated cloth with stylized lettering in silver, replete with dripping icicles, on front cover; silver lettering and a pair of snowshoes on the spine. Preliminary leaves a bit worn. Top of front cover a trifle puckered, apparently a production flaw. A note on the front free endpaper asks that the book be returned to the Woman's American Baptist Home Mission Society (presumably in Kodiak), along with a former owner's stamp and a note stating she bought the book from Hilling's Book Store in College, Alaska. A canceled envelope from Hilling's is laid in. Good+. Item #5478

Written by Carrie M. White Willard, a protestant missionary who worked with the Chilkat Tlingit; she provided an introduction to this second edition. See SMITH, 11019; WICKERSHAM, 1359.
