Created as a facsimile of the Met's copy of the Paul Legrain binding on Paul Valery's L'ame et la danse (1926). Legrain was known for his innovative arts decoratif designs, using Levant leather with inlays of colored morocco. This handsome copy Legrain's binding somehow manages to capture the dynamism of Valery's work, a dialog between Socrates and Phedre on dance.
