"The Eskimo" was initially published by the Bureau of Education from 1916 - 1918 and was revived by Andrews from 1936 - 1947. Much on reindeer and reindeer industry. By 1943, and perhaps earlier, when publishing shifted to Eugene, OR, the title was appended with "The Only Eskimo Paper in North America". Andrews' history in Alaska was illustrious: He was a member of the 1897 ascent of Mt. Elias led by the Duke of Abruzzi; worked for the US Treasury in Sitka and Skagway during the Klondike gold rush; wrote "The Story of Alaska" (Seattle: Lowman & Hanford, 1931) and "The Eskimo and His Reindeer in Alaska" (Caldwell: Caxton, 1939). Scarce. Bookseller inventory R10182X62B.
