First bound and issued in 1981 by the Sea Pen Press & Paper Mill, more than 40 sets of sheets of David Ferry's A Letter, and Some Photographs remained unbound. Renewed interest in those unbound sheets was inspired, in part, when David Ferry won the 2012 National Book Award in Poetry. In that year, award-winning bookbinder Andrea Kohler was engaged to bind those sheets, along with an additional colophon of explanatory matter, printed on kitakata paper by Heavenly Monkey.
