Frontis. reproduces the first page of George Simpson's "Character Book," 1832. Maps, including two folding. Index. Bound in full black cloth with the HBC heraldic crest stamped on front cover, gilt lettering on spine. Bookplate on front pastedown, else Fine in a Fine dust jacket. Of an edition limited to subscribers of the Records Society, this is hand-numbered copy 1629. The four-page prospectus, laid-in, has an oxidized outline of a paperclip on its last page. Additionally, an invoice and letter from the Secretary of the HBRS is laid-in, acknowledging admission of noted Seattle collector Lou Javete to the Society (please see last photo). Near Fine / Fine. Regarding the Pacific Northwest, this is an important volume in the series inasmuch as the role of George Simpson as manager of the Oregon Country's Chief Factors and Chief Traders is evaluated. Includes a list of his personnel, and introductions to them. A bright copy with only a slight suggestion of wear to dust jacket. Dust jacket is now preserved in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
