Rev. James Phillips Hoyt, 1844 - 1925 (B. A. 1864, B. D. 1870) of Coventry, New York, was a sophomore in the Yale Academical Class. He had bound his collection of 1862 printed matter including programs for commencement exercises, musical and oratory presentations, debates, biennial examinations, [Pp. 66]; Yale Banner newspaper page (folded); Catalogue of the Officers and Students with a Statement of the Course of Instruction in the Various Departments, Pp. 60; Yale Literary Magazine Vol. 27, Pp. 336.

Hoyt went on to become a Congregational pastor in Connecticut and Florida, an author and inventor of an early fountain pen. A fine collection of Yale ephemera from a period that included the onset of the Civil War.
