A prospectus for the Dogwood Press, Seattle's pre-eminent fine-press operated by Frank McCaffrey. For the balance of his career, McCaffrey operated alternately as the Dogwood Press or simply "Frank McCaffrey" as the imprint. His design often featured a lingering, perhaps outdated, element of Victoriana, occasionally using purple paper and floral effect to a nostalgic fault. He could also summon a brilliant moderne design in publishing, say, Wilde's The Happy Prince or a timeless whimsy, as seen his his pictorial map of Seattle. Through all, his tone was sincere. Here McCaffrey explains the origin and meaning of his fine press name. Scarce, especially in condition as well preserved as this. Now housed in a clear archival sleeve with acid-free backing.
