New York: Grosset and Dunlap, (1940). Reprint. Hardcover. 8vo. Pp. 449. Bound in brown cloth with lettering and design stamped in green on front cover and spine. Top edge dyed green. A bit shaken with corners bumped and a dampstain to lower fore-edge corner of front cover. Illustrated, price-clipped dust jacket is worn, with old tape repairs and spine a bit faded. Inscribed by the author on the FFEP. Good / Fair. Item #469

An early reprint published during WWII in conjunction with Dodd, Mead. Inscription reads: "For -- -- , a Spar from the author, and ex-Male Wave, with the confession that the only trip I ever made on the Columbia River was in a Coast Guard cutter. / Nard Jones / 1944". Dust jacket is now preserved in a clear, removable archival protector.
