Full title: "The State of Washington A Brief History of the Discovery, Settlement and Organization of Washington, the "Evergreen" State, as well as a Compilation of Official Statistics showing the Material Development of the State up to Date."

Published as promotional swag for distribution at the World's Columbian Exposition, also known as the Chicago World's Fair or the Chicago Columbian Exposition, 1893. Professor Edmond Meany, of the University of Washington, served as press agent and statistician of the state's Commission. He culled information after soliciting material from assorted periodicals: "Tacoma News," "Puget Sound Lumberman," "Spokane Review," etc.

Photos, with excellent subject matter, extol a thriving, abundant Washington State: HMS "Hyacinth" at Tacoma's Puget Sound Dry Dock; harvesting a fir tree nearly nine-feet in diameter near Chehalis; seeding grain by horse team in Walla Walla Valley, etc. Alas, they're fairly poorly reproduced. SMITH, 2929; SOLIDAY I: 801.

Price: $30.00
