White Bluffs, named for nearby chalky cliffs, was one of the first Washington Territory pioneer settlements, along the Columbia River. By the 1850s, steamboat service between Portland, Oregon and the area now known as the Tri-Cities commenced, hastening settlement and bolstering development. When the US government funneled untold resources into the region as part of the Manhattan Project, the region took on the qualities of a boomtown, and growth continues today. This title in hardcover is increasingly uncommon.
