This is a large folio volume in an Ogawa series published with uniform covers. While other titles appear on the open market, "Chrysanthemums of Japan" is scarce; auction records indicate only one sale in the last few years, in England. The publication provides a fascinating glimpse into Meiji-era Japan in which the traditional Japanese aesthetic is slightly Americanized. That tendency is most noticed in Ogawa's captions, imbued with Victoriana.
