A loving tribute written by the bibliographer of Northwest Americana and longtime University of Washington librarian. Prosch and others were killed in an infamous 1923 car accident when the chauffeur-driven car careened into the Duwamish River near Allentown. The passengers were returning from a meeting of the Washington Historical Society. As for Charles Smith, his commanding authority of Pacific Northwest Americana was such that the UW's rare book repository, adjoining Suzzallo Library and now moribund, was named the Smith Room in his honor. Scarce.
