Jackson was General Agent of Education in Alaska at time of publication. This comprehensive annual report is an account of the management of domesticated reindeer imported from Siberia to western Alaska as a possible solution to First People's chronic food shortage. The proposal was first suggested by Captain Michael A. Healy, an officer in the United States Revenue Cutter Service. Contains rich anthropological and natural science information. The photos, one showing the supply schooner Laura Madsen, and another of Right Rev. Innocent Putinsky of the Russain Orthodox Church in Alaska, as well as those with Eskimo reindeer herders, are particularly good. Scarce.
