Binding shows slight wear but for wear to head and tail of spine, and corners (please see photos). Ex libris, with stamps, including "discard," from the Union Theological Seminary Library, NYC. Two closed three-inch tears to the Alaska map. Despite the detracting qualities, a sturdy copy. Very Good. Item #2131

Jackson was General Agent of Education in Alaska at time of publication. This comprehensive annual report is an account of the management of domesticated reindeer imported from Siberia to western Alaska as a possible solution to First People's chronic food shortage. The proposal was first suggested by Captain Michael A. Healy, an officer in the United States Revenue Cutter Service. Contains rich anthropological and natural science information. The photos, especially those showing Laplander and Finlander reindeer men, as well as those with Eskimo school children, are particularly good. Scarce.
