Inscription reads, For Walt and Marie / The evil geniuses and extraordinary extraterrestrials. /[signed] Steph. Walt Crowley and Marie McCaffrey are perhaps best known as founders of HistoryLink, the online encyclopedia of Pacific Northwest history, and the first US website devoted to regional history. Crowley and McCaffrey also collaborated on an extensive list of books documenting Seattle history. In that capacity, McCaffrey served as book designer. For this book, she designed the cover, using a Jost Ammans woodcut, ca. 1525. A pleasant association copy from the poet whose spiritual leanings first led to St. Edwards Seminary, outside of Seattle, at age 14.
