London: The Fine Arts Society, 1884. First Edition. Leather bound. 4to. Pp. 16. Illustrated with several plates featuring Leighton's studies. Bound by Zaehnsdorf in full dark blue pebble-grain morocco with gilt ornaments in each corner, and gilt borders. Original wrappers bound-in. Spine with five raised bands, with lettering and ornaments in gilt. Gilt patterned satin endpapers. Corners a bit bumped and worn, with a scuff the size of a dime at lower right corner. With the armorial bookplate of Hugh Howard. Very Good. Item #1866

Lord Frederic Leighton, 1830-1896, was a celebrated painter in his day, certainly more so after Queen Victoria bought his work. He also served as president of the Royal Academy. The painting now hangs at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
