The inscription, from Chihuly to Seattle arts patron and collector Anne Gould Hauberg reads, "For Anne/Love/Chihuly/1997". Anne Gould Hauberg and her husband John Hauberg gave Chihuly his start by financing his concept of a summer-school glass-blowing program near Stanwood, WA. The program evolved into the Pilchuck Glass School, now an internationally recognized art-glass studio.
