A nine-part poem by Richard Burns written under the the nom-de-plume Agnostos Nomolos as a response to the far-right Greek junta of April 1967. The overthrow, prior to elections in which Georgios Papandreou was favored to win, culminated in several years in which civil liberties were quashed, and imprisonment and torture of political opponents was commonplace. Burns, then resident in Greece, had the poem smuggled to London, where its reception anticipated the brutality of the tinpot colonels.

First published in London Magazine, this is the first printing. "and the smell of the lilac has turned to shit in my nostrils/And yellow sweet retsina tastes like urine/... Lord I have no newspapers/The state has cut out my eyes/Lord he radio tells lies." A clean, fresh copy.
