Recollections of Seattle from the Queen City's youth. Arriving with her parents in 1869, in 1871 Redfield's father built the family house at Third and Seneca. With first-person accounts concerning the difficulty of finding water (a deep well was dug on the property, with no immediate result), maritime activity (the steamer Politkofski, a Russian vessel built in Sitka, 1866), the shooting of George Reynolds, husband of Mary Meydenbauer, and the subsequent forming of the Vigilance Committee, etc. SMITH, 8542.
