An exceptionally fresh set. Lord Eldon (1751-1838), the first to hold the title, was a zealous anti-Catholic with affinity for most high Tory platforms. Drinking, perhaps, being one of them. Per Douglas Sutherland ("Raise Your Glasses"), "the learned Lord Eldon and his brother Lord Stowell used to boast that they had drunk more port than any two men in England." No small feat in that era of heavy drinking. Bookseller inventory A05043X35L.
