In a custom European Bkbndg Co. four-panel folder covered in beige cloth with black pull tab within a custom slip case, spine covered in calf with titles stamped in gilt between five raised bands over matching beige cloth, beveled at the open end. Bruant (1851-1925) was the French cabaret singer, comedian, and nightclub owner, credited as the creator of the chanson réaliste. In posters by Toulouse-Lautrec he is depicted in his signature red scarf and black cape.

Librettist, lyricist, and playwright Benjamin Lebreton wrote for chansonnettes comiques, vaudeville, and light theatrical plays with composers such as Charles Pourny and Henry Moreau. He was also a contributing writer to Bruant's satirical journal Le Mirliton.
